GRESB serves institutional investors, asset managers, consultants, and other partners via a variety of ESG data-led products and services. These products vary from frameworks to score and benchmark ESG performance against industry peers, through to analytical tools and reports that help to implement and manage ESG initiatives for investors and managers.

GRESB aims to help stakeholders along the financial value chain to make a real impact in their efforts to create a sustainable infrastructure industry. To achieve this, you will be expected to understand the latest industry best practice in ESG for infrastructure and lead research and development to ultimately improve the content within our suite of existing and new products.

The Position

We are looking for an ESG subject matter expert with experience in real asset infrastructure or an individual with previous experience in infrastructure investment or operations. Alongside the GRESB team, you will work very closely with industry representatives to support this work. The role sits in the product pillar and directly reports to the Infrastructure Product Director.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a mission-driven organisation that is shaping the real asset markets of the future and paving the way for a more sustainable infrastructure industry.

Role and responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic development of the GRESB products for the infrastructure sector (energy, water, waste and transport assets);
  • Work closely and engage regularly with industry experts in finance and infrastructure through the independent GRESB Foundation to drive development of ESG standards and reporting requirements that are used in GRESB Infrastructure Assessments;
  • Lead on research and development of various ESG issues and topics, carrying out industry and user research to ultimately propose changes to existing GRESB products and standards;
  • Add to the value of GRESB products by increasing data quality, creating more efficient reporting processes and adding new functionalities in line with industry needs.
  • Define business and functional requirements alongside GRESB’s data scientists and software engineers to implement changes in GRESB products;
  • Collaborate regularly with commercial and customer service teams to promote GRESB products and structure feedback from users to define strategic and tactical improvements to the value proposition of the GRESB Infrastructure offering;
  • Represent GRESB at industry events, seminars and conferences to promote GRESB products and provide industry insight and analysis.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of relevant ESG or sustainability experience in the infrastructure or finance sectors. Relevant fields may include project management and development, fund and asset management or consulting;
  • Strong understanding of ESG issues and their application to the infrastructure sector;
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills and a track record of working with expert industry groups.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and voluntary reporting frameworks such as GRESB, PRI, CDP, GRI, TCFD, SFDR, EU Taxonomy and SASB;
  • A true passion for the sustainability field and a strong willingness to have a positive impact in the industry;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to understand and discuss abstract concepts and adapt them to make practical changes to GRESB’s products;
  • Ability to learn fast and work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, multi-cultural scale-up environment;
  • Full professional fluency in English is mandatory. Other language skills are a plus but speaking Dutch is not a requirement;
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills to present to and brief senior industry leaders;
  • Good command of Microsoft Office software;
