• You will be working on developing the server-side infrastructure that allows our innovative and AI-driven web application to be used by millions of (marginalized) job seekers across the globe.
• Say goodbye to various approval loops to make smaller architecture changes. You will be working in an agile product development team and immediately see the result of your engineering work.

You will join our product team as the new back-end software engineer:

• Ragnar is one of SkillLab co-founders and leads the Product team.
• Aaron is our Backend Lead. You will work closely with him and directly report to him.
• Our backend software engineers are Barry, Lala, Alrefai, Yasser, Vlad.
• Our frontend engineers are Ibraheem, Ivana, Kilani, and Mojtaba.
• Gaspar is our full-stack engineer, Luiza our QA engineer and Hamza works in DevOps.
• Our product managers are Hadeel, Hayani amp; Omar.
• You will work and interact with many more fantastic team members from Data Science and UX/UI.

• You will develop the robust, secure and scalable server-side infrastructure of our progressive web application, built primarily in Ruby on Rails as an API server with a React client and deployed in containers on Kubernetes in GCP and elsewhere
• You will collaborate with the entire product team through a collaborative product design process, code review, data engineering and operational support
• You will own some features as Tech Lead and support your teammates on the codebase as a whole
• You will learn how we leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence to allow job seekers to better understand their skills and get matched to education and jobs

Requirements

Is this you?

• You have 4-8 years of experience as a web application backend developer
• You have experience with Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes and adjacent tech
• You are able to take a feature from business requirements to secure, performant implementation in collaboration with a small team
• You have a learning mindset and bring the drive and curiosity to new tackle new coding challenges
• You work collaboratively in an engineering team and are empathic towards our end-users
• You are excited about our social mission to empower everyone to have a pathway to employment

Extra awesome

• You have some experience of with AWS and some front-end development work

• We use a salary benchmark for the Dutch high-tech sector to set your salary based on your experience. We expect that the annual gross salary for the experience we are looking for ranges from 57k-85k Euro per year.
• We strongly prefer on-site candidates who live in Amsterdam or will relocate to Amsterdam from different countries. However, we are open to remote applicants who will make intermittent trips to Amsterdam from cities within the Netherlands.
• We accept applications on a rolling basis, and we envision a start date as soon as possible
