We are looking for Sensory Interns to join MMR’s passionate and vibrant team and work on site with our teams and client based in Utrecht, Netherlands.
This is an exciting role where the Sensory Intern will lead research project(s) and get integrated in the day to day life of the panel, including panel session preparation, sensory moderation, panel performance analysis and monitoring to fulfil our clients’ needs and fit their KPIs. You will also be part of our MMR global sensory team, with constant opportunities for training and mentoring, and learn from our 60+ experienced sensory scientists.
As Sensory Intern your main responsibilities are:
- To support the team in place in preparing the sensory panel sessions, to ensure smooth delivery of sensory research and consistently deliver high quality descriptive analysis data
- Handle tasks in the lab such as:
- Sample labelling and preparation for sessions
- Lab equipment / consumables management
- Scheduling of the sessions and communication to sensory panelists
- To prepare panel sessions on the provided sensory software as needed
- To regularly recruit and train new panelists to keep panel numbers at a required level
- You will shadow the MMR Panel Leader and learn to analyse panel performance in order to guarantee the quality of the data as well as spotting needs for improvement and putting in place appropriate training plans
- To ensure that clients are kept up to date with project progress, and receive and understand draft lexicons and topline results whenever appropriate
- To work together with our on-site team and client teams to advice and develop new sensory methodologies to address our business and consumer challenges
- To lead specific research project(s), in order to improve ways of working and approach to leading sensory panels efficiently
Requirements
Requirements / Profile:
- Currently following a Master’s level cursus with a component of Sensory / Consumer Science
- Knowledge of Sensory / Statistical Analysis -QDA, Similarity/Thurstonian testing, Post hoc, PCA, MFA.
- Fluent written and spoken Dutch and English
- Experience with sensory software and data analysis (Eye Question, R and XL Stat) is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to work well within a team
- Able to work independently
- A plus: being a foodie who is passionate with food and cooking.
