Your opportunity

  • You will work closely with the User Experience team, as well as other functions, such as developers and product managers.
  • You will gain a lot of experience interviewing users, validating product features, and communicating insights to internal stakeholders.

Your team

You will work closely with Mirette (UX Researcher) and the rest of the User Experience team in a thriving, user-centric company culture. As designers and researchers, the UX team is responsible for understanding our users, championing their perspective throughout the product development process and translating their needs into the products we build at SkillLab.

Your impact

  • You will take ownership of validating key features in our product with user research. While your focus will be on usability testing, there might also be opportunities to support more foundational research.
  • You will use a range of tools and methodologies to address the team’s research questions
  • You will work closely with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders. With their input, you will define the goals for research, recruit users, plan and facilitate in-person and remote testing.
  • You will be responsible for reporting and communicating your research findings.
  • You will work closely with the design team to advocate for solutions to the issues you’ve identified.

Your skills

  • You have knowledge of usability heuristics, user-centered design principles and methodologies.
  • You have experience conducting qualitative user interviews and/or usability tests through previous coursework or prior internships.
  • You’ve got excellent presentation skills, and are a clear written and verbal communicator.
  • You are comfortable working with quantitative data (analysis and number-crunching).
  • You have a keen interest in human behavior and an appreciation for good product design.
  • You can showcase your projects or relevant coursework through your portfolio.

Extra awesome

  • You are fluent in Arabic and comfortable conducting user research with Arabic-speaking users.
  • You’ve worked on university projects involving market research / analysis, user experience research or web/mobile application design.
  • You have have prior internship experience working in an agile product development environment.
  • You have experience with quantitative research methods.
  • You have experience with survey design and analysis.

Requirements

  • You are pursuing or recently completed (within the last 12 months) a degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, Data Analysis, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • You are eligible to work in the Netherlands. We don’t support visa applications for applicants from outside the EU.
  • You are excited about our social mission to empower everyone to have a pathway to employment.
  • You are able to commit to a six month internship.

Compensation, start-date amp; location

  • This is a paid internship. If you live in Amsterdam or relocate to Amsterdam during your internship, then the monthly reimbursement is will be 1.000 EUR.
  • You can do the internship by living in another city in the Netherlands and commuting to the office 1-2 days per week. If you do the internship remotely, then the monthly reimbursement will be 700 EUR. SkillLab covers your train commuting expenses to Amsterdam.
  • We accept applications on rolling basis and we envision a start date in February/March 2024.
