What is the project about?
We are looking for an experiencedNetworkEngineer who also has experience working in a DevOps organizational model. You are a result-oriented personality and always ambitious to go the extra mile. In a challenging environment, you easily share your knowledge with colleagues, and you learn from each other’s expertise.
You will work for and with the complete Fixed Core tribe to design, manage, and support the corenetworks and internet traffic of the various entities of the client and indirectly support the clients end customers with theirnetworkneeds. To ensure an optimized end-user experience for the clients services, you and your team continuously look for the best internet connectivity with their peering partners.
You add value by maintaining and continuously innovating thenetworks together with your team. With passion, craftsmanship, and focus on results. As SeniorNetworkengineer you are, together with your team, responsible for the development of the clients currentnetworktowards the future state-of-the-artnetwork. You and your team are responsible for the products within the Fixed Core with a primary focus on keeping thenetworks in top condition. This requires great efforts on rationalization, extensions, and the transition of traditionalnetworkservices towardsnetworkfunction virtualization and automation. In other words; operational management. To guarantee operational management 24x7, you will be part of a standby roster.
Responsibilities
In the clients organization, innovation (Dev) and operation (Ops) are brought together, and the DevOps operational model and culture is applied. This requires the following from you:
- You feel responsible for the innovation of your product while at the same time realizing the safety, availability, and quality of your product 24/7. You will participate in on-call services if needed to ensure desired quality levels;
- You are open to other points of view, you actively contribute to good cooperation (in the chain) and you remain in constant dialogue about the shared goals;
- You can handle multiple, complex processes simultaneously and can combine both innovation and operational tasks and you understand the importance of the provided service;
- You can give advice and share knowledge within and outside your team.
Job requirements
- HBO working and thinking level;
- Extensive experience innetworkengineering in the field of design, testing, and operations;
- Detailed knowledge ofnetworking in routing amp; switching, TCP/IP stack, and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, DHCP, IPv6, and EVPN;
- Proven experience with Python, passion for programming, and ability to learn new languages;
- Good understanding of automation with tools in a Test-automation pipeline like Ansible, Docker, Jenkins;
- Good knowledge ofnetworksecurity methodologies;
- Solid experience with Carrier gradenetworkequipment and IPNetworking in a telecom operator, amp; understanding of Service Provider Technologies.
Some other technologies you might work with / Nice to have:
- Knowledge of Nokia, Cisco, and, Juniper;
- Knowledge of the internet landscape, including transit providers, peering, internet exchanges;
- Experience with (traffic) engineering, configuration, and operation of MPLS and BGP re-routings;
- Agile Mindset and knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, and other Agile working methods.
