Your opportunity

• You will get hands-on experience in maintaining and deploying a production codebase, DevOps and application deployment processes.

Your team

You will work closely with Aaron, the lead data scientist, who has many years of experience in multiple industries in data science and AI. Rihab is a Data Scientist who specialises in taxonomies. Her responsibilities include developing and maintaining our taxonomies' data structures, as well as training and evaluating NLP models. Anna is a data scientist specialised in recommendation systems.

Your impact

• You will work with our Lead data scientist and DevOps engineer to manage our deployment process.
• You will maintain the libraries and codebase of our production recommender service.
• You will assist the data science team in developing internal tools for both prototyping and experimentation.

Your skills

• You have studied in a field like computer science, data science, or other quantitative fields.
• You are very comfortable in Python and enjoy optimising code.
• You have a demonstrated ability to create applications using python web frameworks such as Flask or Django.
• You are familiar with PostgreSQL or similar.
• You have a demonstrable knowledge of Docker.
• You are comfortable with Git.

Extra awesome

• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Familiar with deployment on GCP or Azure.

Requirements

• You are eligible to work in the Netherlands. We don’t support visa applications for applicants from outside the EU.
• You are currently enrolled as a student in your final year or graduated within the last 12 months.
• You are able to commit to a six month internship.

Compensation, start-date amp; location

• This is a paid internship. If you live in Amsterdam or relocate to Amsterdam during your internship, then the monthly reimbursement is will be 1.000 EUR.
• You can do the internship by living in another city in the Netherlands and commuting to the office 1-2 days per week. If you do the internship remotely, then the monthly reimbursement will be 700 EUR. SkillLab covers your train commuting expenses to Amsterdam.
• We accept applications on rolling basis and we envision a start date in as soon as possible.

Our selection procedure

1. You apply for the role and we review your profile.
2. We will invite you for a short screening call.
3. We will invite you for a 60min interview if we find that you are a good fit. The interview will involve a live coding test.
4. We will offer you the internship and discuss logistics, if we think that you are the ideal candidate for the role.
