Project Engineer
The Position
As Project Engineer your purpose is to translate improvement ideas into a detailed engineered project plan (including Project Execution Plan and sourcing strategy), to fulfil the expectations of the internal customers. Therefore, you collaborate with the production colleagues to meet their process and production requirements, the maintenance colleagues to meet their asset requirements, and with the sourcing colleagues. Furthermore, you need to manage the project to fit in the cost and timing requirements of the company. The role is situated in the Engineering department, and the project engineer collaborates with the other engineering colleagues to get the right expertise in the projects.
The main activities and responsibilities
The key areas of responsibilities in this position are:
- Making Cost estimations of improvement ideas, in order to rank those ideas based on Impact and effort.
- Guide project through the project steps from start to close out.
- Guide project through the Management of Change procedure.
- Translate improvement idea into a detailed engineering package which can be executed by the technicians and supervisor.
- Manage the project scope via proper scope change management.
- Evaluate projects to improve work processes.
- Align sourcing strategy with the sourcing department.
- Deliver projects to meet the expectation of the production/process and maintenance colleagues (process engineering).
- Deliver projects to meet the cost and timing requirements of the company (project management).
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced (senior) Project Engineer with a solid personality and strong negotiation skills.
The required education level is either a bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation or process engineering, with at least 3-5 years of practical project engineering experience in a production environment. You are in possession of a VCA certificate and have knowledge of and/or experience with Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Furthermore, you are familiar with Manufacturing Excellence work processes such as Asset Utilization, Operate Plant, Improve Equipment Reliability, Maintain Facility, Improve Plant and government requirement and permits.
You like to work in a team, both within the engineering department as with colleagues from production. You take initiative when needed, build relationships naturally and have the talent to get things done. You have a lot of persuasion but are genuinely open to other opinions.
You are able to easily express your ideas in Dutch and English, as well as on paper and face-to-face.
