Mendix Design Organization:The Design team is a distributed team across Boston, Pune, Shanghai and Rotterdam, with many disciplines. From user experience research and service design to brand and product design, the Mendix design team is filled with creatives focused on elevating the user experience across our products. The position:Do you have a proven track record of designing and shipping user experiences and products? Are you a thoughtful creator who is passionate about design systems, user interactions, skilled at crafting interfaces, and able to shape an entire project from start to finish? We are looking for an ambitious and creative Product Designer to join the Platform Design System team in Rotterdam.
Responsibilities:As a Product Designer joining the Platform Design System team, you are responsible for creating delightful and elegant human-centered product experiences through contributing to our design systems. This will involve creating and maintaining the components, patterns, interactions and behaviors that define our product brand and form the foundation of our product’s user experience.
You have pixel-perfect standards with exceptional interaction design skills and an eye for accessibility and usability. You’ll work with the other design team members, UX researchers, UX engineers, and Mendix developers to ensure your designs are implemented perfectly and serve the design organization. You are a strategic systems thinker, able to look beyond a single feature and see the bigger picture of the design system, for example by anticipating potential use cases and evolutions.What you'll be doing:
- Keeping ahead of the latest best practices, design patterns, and accessibility norms
- Advocating for consistency with enough flexibility to accommodate critique and change
- Creating top-notch documentation that communicates how components should be used
- Working with UX engineers to create interactions and implement patterns
- Validating and testing components with our UX Researchers
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer
- Thorough understanding of first principles of software development and computational concepts
- Experience creating and governing a design system
- A proven track record of shipped products with a strong graphic design sensibility
- Exceptional typographic skills
- Highly skilled in preferably Figma, otherwise Sketch
- Able to both get things started and get things done
- Ability to communicate design system component ideas through sketches, wireframes, prototypes and written documentation
- Experience designing for (mobile) web
- Experience in designing for Android and iOS is a plus
