The Production department of the business Unit EMEA has a vacancy in its Delft offices (located on DSM Delft site), for the following position:

Continuous Improvement amp; Technology Manager

The Position

The CI amp; Technology Manager will be responsible for Continuous Improvement and Technology operations for the site Delft. Collaborating with the global CI community to share and implement standard work across sites, the incumbent will also collaborate with the global Samp;PT team to align on science and process technology projects.

The main activities and responsibilities

  • Lead the technology department by defining the organization structure, work processes, content of the jobs and coaching the employees.
  • Ensure all people processes with respect to the team are well managed as per organization expectations.
  • Facilitate and actively contribute to the definition and execution of the (longer term) improvement agenda of the Centrient Delft organization;
    • by screening and prioritizing improvement ideas
    • by closely cooperating with the Samp;PT community
    • by driving the continuous improvement culture and mindset
    • by establishing a problem solving culture
  • Actively steer on the desired behavior of both line managers as employees to promote the CI culture and inspire people from operator- to higher management-level, to think with a continuous improvement mindset. Making connections with people and develop, maintain and connect with the global CI community.
  • Establish an organization culture that effectively executes the management of change process and way of prioritization;
  • Lead early stage technological projects (PMP phases 1-3) to a solid business case and as such lay the foundation for a (CAPEX) project to start development and implementation (PMP 3-5).
  • Member of the management team Delft.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Academic (MSc) level in biotechnology, chemistry or chemical technology.
  • Knowledge on fermentation, enzyme technology and bioconversion, recovery amp; purification and waste water treatment.
  • Know-how on process safety, SHE and quality (cGMP).
  • Data analysis techniques, Root Cause Analysis / Problem solving tools and application, basic knowledge of finance.
  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing continuous improvement.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Experience in at least three positions in plant technology, production and/or Ramp;D in (bio) chemical production facility.
  • Experience in product quality and quality assurance matters.
  • Well trained in all relevant QESH policies and procedures.
  • Green belt Lean Six Sigma.
