Your Role:

In your role as a Health Economist, you will have primary responsibilities focused on client-facing project delivery.

You will:

  • Take a technical role on economic modelling project work under the leadership of more senior team members by:
    • Researching the disease area and understanding the current treatment landscape
    • Analyzing the effectiveness and safety of the new technology using results published in journal articles and patient-level data from clinical trials or disease registries
    • Using research skills to identify appropriate inputs to inform model parameterization
    • Design and develop transparent and user-friendly economic models throughout the product life cycle, pre- and post-launch for local and global use
    • Report on and explain what you have done verbally, in a written document, or as a presentation
  • Develop technical reports, user guides and summary slide decks as supporting documentation for models and provide training to local affiliates on their use
  • Dependent upon your experience and interests, as you develop there may be opportunities for additional responsibilities such as: presenting at international conferences, leading proposals or managing more junior Health Economists

Requirements

Your skills:

You will be a health economics professional with enthusiasm, vision, a willingness to learn and flexibility, looking to develop and further your career in health economics. We are looking for an individual who will be highly motivated by working and developing themselves as part of an efficient, highly functioning team.

You will have:

  • A relevant undergraduate degree and at least 2 years’ experience in the hands-on design and construction of economic models from within a consultancy, the pharmaceutical industry or a relevant academic environment
  • Or, you will have a relevant Masters or PhD and some hands-on design and construction of economic models from within a consultancy, the pharmaceutical industry or a relevant academic environment
  • Experience of Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA; this is our primary modelling platform)
  • Experience of quality control of economic models
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills and comfort liaising with technical and non-technical clients (both internally and externally)
  • The ability to explain complex calculations and ideas both verbally and in writing

You will have a distinct advantage if you have:

  • Experience of programming individual patient simulations or discrete event simulations (preferably in R or VBA)
  • Experience programming economic models using R
  • Experience developing cost-effectiveness and/or budget impact models for global use
  • Experience developing HTA reimbursement submissions (such as NICE in England)
  • Experience of analysis of clinical trial data for use within health economic models, e.g. survival analysis, quality-of-life analysis, and combinations of randomized controlled trial and non-randomized controlled trial data
