Here at Gorillas we are in hyper growth mode as we move forward in our journey to change the retail space on a daily basis, to help us achieve this we are looking for an experienced Public Policy Manager who can build excellent relationships and keep in close contact with key stakeholders and business leaders at a local and national level. We operate in a constantly changing environment with a laser focus on what our clients want and you will be responsible for imagining, developing and executing public policy programs related to the Gorillas product, whilst fitting with the Gorillas ethos of being obsessed with the communities and caring about the environments we operate in.

What you will be building with us

• Working closely with local and national authorities, municipalities and other stakeholders to ensure we are always maintaining and building on the exceptional working relationships we have with the communities and environments we operate in.
• Building relationships and sharing knowledge across multiple departments within Gorillas to influence processes and ensure everyone is aligned in living and breathing our key values and keeping people at the heart of everything.
• Managing and collaborating with the local PA agency to develop and deliver the public affairs strategy.
• To be the point of contact for all things public policy for Gorillas in the Netherlands, you will be responsible for positioning Gorillas positively with government at multiple levels of seniority, and support business growth and objectives.
• Conducting meetings and visiting sites as and when required, externally representing Gorillas in a professional and transparent manner.
• Carrying out risk analysis to make improvements where needed.
• Leading and developing a small team that in the long run will include a junior public policy assistant and community specialists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in public affairs or public policy in a fast-paced, rapidly expanding environment
• A thorough understanding of legislation and the political landscape in the Netherlands at both a local and national level.
• A strong negotiator and relationship builder with excellent problem solving skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, ideally with experience speaking with the press/media.
