Driving the core product assortment, the commercial team lay at the heart of the service. Understanding what the customer wants and needs, analysing the market, negotiating contracts and growing the business.
We are looking for a Commercial Director for Benelux. Reporting directly to the General Manager for Benelux, and working closely with the Chief Commercial Officer and the global Commercial team, you will oversee:
- Buying: how much to buy, when to buy, at what price
- Logistics: how the products get from the supplier to our warehouses
- Commercial Strategy and Marketplace: how to improve our product assortment
As one of our first senior team members in Benelux you will have a huge impact on developing a strong customer offering that is at the heart of our rapid global growth.
Your responsibilities
- Hire a first-in-class team and set the goals and strategic direction for the commercial division as the company expands rapidly throughout Benelux
- Bring together a commercially relevant product assortment for customers at high speed
- Ensure optimal product availability, pricing, and quantities across all of our stores
- Drive strategic buying decisions across all of our markets with data-driven insights
- Work closely with the Operations team to ensure that the supply chain runs smoothly between our suppliers and our shelves
- Partner with headquarter operations to implement best systems and practices that we gain from other markets
- Keep your finger on the pulse of regional consumer trends and behaviours to ensure we’re ahead of the curve on local products and key value items, with a focus on maximizing customer experience
- Collaborate across country and global teams ensuring effective collaboration across Commercial, Operations, Marketing, Brand, and Finance teams
Requirements
- Extensive commercial leadership experience in the B2C consumable food or grocery industries
- A background in buying/purchasing/sourcing or category management. Experience with supply chain logistics would be an added bonus.
- A strong understanding of the Belgian grocery / convenience market, and creative ideas on how to disrupt the way it currently operates
- Experience leading, mentoring, and developing high performing teams
- Analytical and data driven mindset with an ability to derive insights from data that convert into actionable strategies
- Strong cross-functional communicator and collaborator with excellent stakeholder management skills
- Have a hands-on, start-up mentality, ready to test hypothesis and seek the most effective solution in a low-ego environment
- Experience in a fast paced environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines, ensuring quality at the same time
- Proficiency in Flemish and English
