We are looking for an experienced Area Manager to organize and oversee the operations of a number of stores and their rider fleets. You will assume responsibility for the overall success of the stores by setting targets, supervising store managers, and ensuring KPIs are attained. Effective area managers at Zapp are skilled in managing diverse operations from a distance. They have a strategic mindset, a data obsession and are excellent leaders and people managers. The goal is to ensure our stores will meet and exceed expectations of customer experience and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the store performance using key metrics and address issues to improve it. Set targets for your store which are ambitious but achievable and support your teams in achieving the changes.
  • Manage, motivate and support the teams within a time-sensitive and demanding operational environment, to ensure effective contribution in order to deliver team performance and productivity. Work with the Head of People and Fleet to recruit staff for your locations.
  • Maintain health and safety standards, promote a positive on-site safety culture and ensure the sites are compliant with regulatory requirements. Maintain a clean and tidy store and ensure any potential hazards are dealt with safely, quickly and efficiently.
  • Own the coaching of your store teams and promote progression and personal development. This will include training on any process updates and performance coaching requirements. Provide regular feedback on where and how training can be improved, and collaborate on iterating training materials and channels for maximum impact.
  • Own the performance metrics of the rider fleets at your stores i.e. attendance, punctuality, consistency of following key delivery processes and timeliness of deliveries. Coach individual riders when needed, escalating issues when required.
  • Drive the innovation needed at your sites to delight every customer. Creatively problem solve and come up with solutions to challenges faced by your team. Collaborate with HQ in driving process and tech improvements, being the voice of the site, advocating for what your team needs to perform.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as area manager or similar managerial role
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation metrics and principles confident conducting root cause analysis and using Excel
  • Sound understanding of optimization of store operations and standards for success
  • Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable in a highly ambiguous environment, able to take responsibility from day one and work independently by following processes and own directions
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
  • Strong business acumen with a strategic orientation
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • University degree in business administration, retail management or similar field
