NL Senior Accountant!

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate is an analytical detail-oriented individual who will manage our accounting records for our operations in the Netherlands. You will be responsible for maintaining all accounting routines (e.g. A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets, VAT, and bank transactions) along with supervising a Junior Accountant. The Netherlands’ entity registers our operations in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, and Sweden. The ideal candidate will serve as the right hand to the Group Head of Accounting Operations as well as to the region’s Head of Finance on all accounting matters.

Requirements

What you will do:

This is a hands-on role that will support all areas of the business and senior leadership for the EU segment of Marley Spoon. Expected tasks will include:

• Own monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities of the EU segment, including contributing to the preparation of consolidated financial statements (IFRS) and statutory financial statements (Dutch GAAP)
• Manage accounts payable, posting transactions, analyzing cash balances along with the Treasurer, and preparing weekly payments to the vendors according to the company’s payment terms
• Partner with Procurement, Sourcing, and fulfilment center Inventory Management teams to provide gold standard customer service to our vendors, providing them accurate and timely answers on their requests
• Review and post imported bank transactions into the ERP software
• Reconcile intercompany payments and loan repayments within the Group’s entities
• Oversee fixed assets ledger entries according to the Group’s accounting policies
• Revise customer ledger entries and report issues to relevant teams (e.g. Customer Communication and Digital teams)
• Prepare payroll payment, posting payroll data and providing insights about variances identified
• Work with our external tax advisors to generate monthly and quarterly VAT statements and submit them to the relevant country tax authorities
• Participate in transfer pricing discussions with the Controllership and Reporting teams
• Supervise and develop one direct report (Junior Accountant)
• Gather, summarize and analyze a significant amount of transactional data and make reasonable conclusions to facilitate key accounting and business decisions
• Liaise with the Controllership and FPamp;A teams to help bridge the financial picture from transactions to expected business outcomes
• Develop, implement and maintain internal standards, processes and routines based on group requirements and introduce new processes/improvements as deemed appropriate
• Participate on a quarterly basis in physical inventory counts if necessary

Who you will work with:

You will interact with the global Marley Spoon finance team, especially the central accounting function based in Berlin, Germany. Additionally, you will work side-by-side with our fulfilment center (FC) support teams, based in Nieuwegein, ranging from procurement to inventory management, helping bridge the gap between finance and daily FC operations.
