NL Junior Accountant!

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate is an analytical detail-oriented individual who will process our accounting records for our operations in the Netherlands. You will be responsible for maintaining some accounting routines (e.g. PSP A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets, VAT, and bank transactions) under the NL Senior Accountant’s supervision. The Netherlands’ entity registers our operations in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, and Sweden. The ideal candidate will serve as the right hand to the NL Senior Accountant on all accounting matters.

Requirements

What you will do:

This is a hands-on role that will support all areas of the business and senior leadership for the EU segment of Marley Spoon. Expected tasks will include:

• Support the Senior Accountant in owning the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities of the EU segment, including contributing to the preparation of consolidated financial statements (IFRS) and statutory financial statements (Dutch GAAP)
• Register invoices (First-In, First-Out) timely and accurately according to the Group’s accounting policies and instructions given by the Accounting, Controllership, and FPamp;A teams
• Process and submit team members’ expenses and reimbursements, getting details right and according to the Travel amp; Living policy
• Partner with the Controllership team to check missing POs (Purchase Orders) and invoices
• Review vendor ledger entries and investigate issues with a high level of accuracy
• Partner with Procurement, Sourcing, and fulfilment center Inventory Management teams to provide gold standard customer service to our vendors, providing them accurate and timely answers on their requests
• Import bank transaction data, PSP A/R, and IFRS-consolidation entries
• Post released invoices and correct errors, if any
• Support Senior Accountant in reporting VAT transactions
• Gather, summarize and analyze a significant amount of transactional data and make reasonable conclusions to facilitate key accounting and business decisions
• Liaise with the Controllership and FPamp;A teams to help bridge the financial picture from transactions to expected business outcomes
• Develop, implement and maintain internal standards, processes and routines based on group requirements and introduce new processes/improvements as deemed appropriate

The EU is Marley Spoon’s most complex region spread over Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Sweden:

• Participate on a quarterly basis in physical inventory counts if necessary
• ~EUR 40 m region
• 700 hourly and full time associates
• One fulfillment center in the Netherlands
• Three transactional currencies
• Two brands (Marley Spoon, Dinnerly)
• Matrixed functions

Who you will work with:

You will interact with the global Marley Spoon finance team, especially the centralized accounting function based in Berlin, Germany. Additionally, you will work side-by-side with our fulfilment center (FC) support teams, based in Nieuwegein, ranging from procurement to inventory management, helping bridge the gap between finance and daily FC operations.
