Job Description

We’re Getir, the pioneers of super-fast delivery. Close your eyes and imagine sandwiches, hand sanitzers, snacks, and paper towels delivered in an average of 10 minutes throughout the streets of Amsterdam. Each product in a Getir delivery is it’s own micro-experience, from the hunger-conquering ready meal to shampoo for your morning shower before you go out to dominate your day. How we choose the products in those micro-experiences, and how we adapt that to our business model, is an integral part of Getir. In that light, we’re looking for experienced Category Buying Managers to join us on this adventure as part of our growing Buying team here at Getir Netherlands.

What You’ll Do

  • Be a member of Getir Netherlands' category management amp; buying team, recruiting and working with talented and great partners (suppliers), reporting to the Head of Buying.
  • Develop Getir’s product portfolio amp; buying strategy for the Netherlands. Go down the unconventional way if you believe that’s best for the business.
  • Act with the user in mind. First find ways to make the customers happy, then find a way to adapt that to the reality of the business.
  • Play the role of the balancer between customer demands and the requirements of the business.
  • Lead a group of categories ranging from fresh to ambient, personal care to pet care, frozen to home care, indirect purchasing to fresh food. If it’s something we buy for users or ourselves, it all flows through your buying remits.
  • Establish an overall product portfolio that goes beyond meeting customer expectations, resulting in uncalculated customer delight.
  • Provide opportunity to up-and-coming suppliers with differentiating products that lead to new micro-experiences for our customers.
  • Undertake an incredible financial responsibility, acting as a key decision-maker for your categories.

Requirements

  • As a Category Buying Manager you have an experienced track record in eComm Trading or strong track record in a retail or fast paced buying/trading environment that can quickly get up to speed. If you have experience in Fresh Foods or Grocery Non Foods, then we would love to hear from you.
  • Act like those categories are your very own, as if you’re a shareholder in the company. We believe that’s a great driving principle. Stock options do make this reality in the future!
  • First and foremost a collaborative working and commitment to the team ethos at Getir, we want you to enjoy working at Getir. We don’t have a hierarchical or slow paced process driven culture. Energy and sharp minds are welcome, collaborative and can do approaches are a must!
  • No job is too big or too small, you will be comfortable being hands on everything in our model in the Business and in Commercial. That real hands on approach is key to the hustle and bustle of our culture.
  • Leverage existing rapports with major suppliers, but also identify and develop new suppliers for Getir, across the complete spectrum of entrepreneurs like us to national brands and wholesalers.
  • Significant experience working within buying, working across multinational FMCG companies and/or Fresh Food companies. We don’t put an arbitrary number on experience, but rather evaluate it candidate by candidate.
  • We have a strong preference for candidates with experience in fast paced retail environments.
  • Ability to learn fast and adapt your strategies and tactics to the dynamic world of super-fast delivery. Super-fast delivery means sometimes doing other things super-fast
  • Analyse data for insights and demonstrate the attitude/senses of an entrepreneur to develop your portfolio.
  • Negotiation skills that not only achieve the best-in-class product margins and customer offer, but also inspire the rest of the team to continuously become better negotiators.
  • We still believe in the value of on-site working. Down the line, when safe, we do plan on working collectively in Amsterdam, so a daily commute should be factored in.
