Job Description

At Fortanix we are redefining what cloud security means. We are solving some of the world’s most demanding data security challenges. Our technology maintains data security and privacy throughout its entire lifecycle; not only at rest or in motion, but also during runtime.

At the heart of our business lies our runtime encryption platform, which provides the basis for both our own and our customer’s products. By providing both SaaS and on-premise solutions we enable everyone to employ end-to-end security, no matter their infrastructure or needs.

For our DevOps team we are looking for an engineer with a passion for automation and strong programming skills. Your impact is going to range from initial development to maintaining our production environments and you’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving our entire end-to-end cycle.

What your day may look like:

You start your day by catching up on what happened outside your working hours. As you’ll be collaborating with colleagues in California and India the business never really stops. All the information you need you’ll find on Slack or our wikis; there’s no email! As we firmly stand by our customer success, your first order of business might be an urgent support request from either our customers or engineering teams.

Once you’ve handled the operational support you’ll work on your regular sprint commitments. Those will be a balance between improving our infrastructure and tooling or supporting the engineering teams with deployment and packaging needs of our products. Together with your local colleagues you design, implement and test new features. During the day you’ll pick up a pull request for review just as you hand off your work to someone else.

While you’re having some idle time you might peruse our extensive wikis and communication channels to read all about what’s happening in the company. Everything is shared so you’ll know what’s happening from sales to operations to development. And if you have questions or ideas you’re free to contribute. And at the end of the day you make sure that you do a hand-off to the next time zone colleagues that are just starting their day.

You will:

  • Implement deployment infrastructure of our products
  • Monitor and maintain a rapidly growing multisite production environment
  • Implement amp; upgrade CI/CD tooling to improve the efficiency of software development and increase quality control
  • Write and deploy code to create and improve automation
  • Apply security best practices to our infrastructure
  • Be part of a multisite team with on-call rotation
  • Be part of an open, friendly and helpful company culture
  • Balance working remote with being on-site at our office on the High Tech campus in Eindhoven

Requirements

You have:

  • 1+ years of DevOps experience
  • 1+ years of software engineering experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields; or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency with programming infrastructure tooling (in e.g. Python, Ruby, Go), beyond basic scripting
  • A solid understanding of networking protocols, such as IP, DNS, TCP amp; TLS
  • Experience with Linux administration
  • Experience with (PRE):
    • Virtualization amp; container environments (i.e. KVM, Docker)
    • Orchestration frameworks (e.g. Kubernetes)
    • Configuration amp; provisioning tools (i.e. Chef, Ansible, Puppet)
    • Monitoring tools (i.e. Sensu, Prometheus, Nagios)
    • CI/CD tools (i.e. Jenkins, Travis)
    • Cloud platforms (i.e. AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud)

You are someone who:

  • Exhibits uncompromising integrity
  • Pays attention to detail
  • Thinks critically about complex technical problems
  • Can work independently, while also being an effective member of a team
  • Is interested in continual learning and improvement

Benefits

For curious developers with a generalist mindset, we can offer a truly competitive salary, some relocation support, 25 holidays and travel expense remuneration. First and foremost, you’ll be part of a passionate team of peers that will highly appreciate your contribution. We furthermore offer plenty of room for continuous learning and development.
