Job Description

Sympower is an international cleantech scale-up with offices in 5 different countries. Sympower is growing fast and has recently been recognised as one of the Sprout Challenger 50 and one of the eleven scale-ups selected for the Techleap Rise programme, featuring tech scale-ups contributing to flattening the climate curve.

We are looking for a talented and experienced Public amp; Regulatory Affairs Specialist to join our team and help us "scout" attractive markets for new opportunities!

About the role

This role is key in accelerating company growth by judging, implementing, and influencing the national regulatory frameworks on flexibility in the energy system in new markets both inside and outside the EU.

  • You will be the main person engaging with local political and regulatory experts and stakeholders.
  • You will be communicating about Sympower solutions, including external outreach to policymakers on proposed legislation and working with trade associations and third parties.
  • As a member of the Sympower expansion team, you will bring external perspectives back into the company and help form our company direction.
  • Working closely with country representatives, you tackle challenges affecting flexibility such as creating a comprehensive and viable framework for demand response in and outside Europe.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Act as our internal expert regarding Sympower's knowledge on markets and legislation
  • Set up and implement a PA/RA strategy
  • Support our country teams in the RA/PA domain by responding to public consultations
  • Engage with regulatory and other governmental bodies, industry associations and key opinion formers to support policies that will help create/maintain our positioning
  • Support partners in engaging with external stakeholders to help ensure that our products and services address the expectations of regulatory authorities
  • Develop our positioning campaigns across Europe
  • Build a network of trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups and others to support policies that will help create/maintain Sympower positioning
  • Ad-hoc advice on regulatory matters wherever necessary
  • Presenting Sympower’s position on regulatory’s matters during webinars and debate

Requirements

  • Educational background in legal and/or business administration
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in working on energy technology policy issues in European countries, either with government institutions or within in-house corporate policy function
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong intercultural awareness and communication skills
  • Valid EU residence permit
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced scale-up environment
  • Passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology
  • Able to exercise sound judgment, develop creative solutions and implement plans in a changing environment
