Job Description
For our office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands we are looking for a Senior Graphic Designer Team Lead to join our Team
You will lead the full graphic design process necessary to meet our client’s projects’ requirements. You will be responsible for managining the graphic design process from conceptualization (pre and during pitch phase) as well as during implementation ( post pitch phase).
You will work on different projects across all sectors of the business while working closely with other departments to produce brands experience and execute projects of all sizes, and complete them with autonomy, direction, resourcefulness and dedication.
You also have the ability to deal directly with, and run, the client relationship in regards to the graphic design process, presenting and selling in yours and the teams concepts, ideas, timeline and execution plan.
With your experience and insight, you will be guiding a team of graphic designers, with different levels of experience and autonomy . You will guide them in creating and delivering high quality graphic design products as required by the clients’ project and respecting deadlines.
You'll be a team player in a multi-disciplinary agency and will thrive in a fast-paced environment and will have a keen interest in current trends and innovations across graphics, hospitality, retail and other fields as well as being more design focussed than art direction.
This is a full time employment position (40 hours /week)
Start date : 1 October 2021
Full relocation to the Netherlands will be required.
Depending on COVID developments, it is possible that the chosen candidate will work remotely from their residence in the Netherlands until all workforce resumes to work from the office again.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and run the graphic design process of multiple client’s projects simultaneously and across all sectors
- Lead the creative graphic design side of pitch projects and support the business development team with creative input, client meetings, presentations and proposal writings
- Conceptualise and create original, innovative and comprehensive graphic design within the guidelines of the client brief ensuring completeness and suitability of work (working with client situation).
- Design and produce all relevant materials for the client, Including presentation decks
- Work with the specialists to develop and deliver boundary pushing service concepts
- Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes other designers, project management, strategists
- Stay up to date with new graphic design trends and demonstrate a passion for learning
- Display thought leadership
- Mentor amp; provide feedback to more (junior) graphic designers, as needed
- Promote a culture of innovation and teamwork
- Perform semi-annual and annual performance reviews
- Able to assess graphic design resources workload for each clients’ project and advise accordingly, if required.
- Participate in recruiting and hiring designers
- Establish and nurture good client working relationships
- Participate in new business development activities, whenever required
- Develop a strong understanding of UXUS offering and of our clients’s business needs and clearly articulate this.
- Work with the Creative Director to distill the creative direction into functional designs
Requirements
- 6+ years in-depth knowledge and experience in graphic design
- Strong knowledge of design process and project management principles
- Advanced knowledge of retail or hospitality best practices, including signage and wayfinding requirements
- Ability to understand floor plans and design built for environments
- Experience using both metric and imperial (US/UK) measurements
- Able to set priorities and work efficiently
- 1 - 2 years Experience in mentoring and tutoring junior colleagues including doing performance reviews
- Experience in interviewing applicants and selecting new hires
- Strong influencing, negotiation, presentation and communication skills (written amp; verbal)
- Able to build strong and effective working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
- Strong team player and able to deliver results through teamwork
- Experienced in working on international projects
- Fluent in English, knowledge of an additional language is an welcome.
- Accurate, with high attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of various design software packages (e.g. Adobe) and a proactive approach to develop technical skills
- Able to remain calm when working under pressure and encourage others to be so as well
