COPV Design Engineer

Job Description
Dawn Aerospace is seeking an engineer with a strong background in composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs), preferably with rocket and/or satellite propellant tank experience. Ideally the person in this role will have a background in design, manufacturing, and testing. This role requires critical thinking in hardware integration and product lifecycles.

What you will do:
- Perform structural design and analysis of COPVs within project requirements
- Support liner manufacturing and filament winding activity
- Travel as needed to assist in vendor selection, and management
- Define, plan, and execute qualification and acceptance testing
- Support acceptance testing data reduction and post fire/flight inspections
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3-5+ years of relevant industry experience
- Project/subcontract management experience
- Experience with COPV design or manufacturing
- Knowledge of fluid systems sizing and analysis
- Experience with Solidworks a strong plus
- Experience with Abaqus with filament winding module a strong plus
- Experience with the design of flight vehicles or vehicle systems to a set of requirements or standards such as ECSS-E-ST-32-02C, ANSI/AIAA S-081B-2018, NASA-STD-5001 or similar.
- Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
