Senior Backend Software Engineer

• You will be working on developing the server-side infrastructure that allows our innovative and AI-driven web application to be used by millions of (marginalized) job seekers across the globe.
• Say goodbye to various approval loops to make smaller architecture changes. You will be working in an agile product development team and immediately see the result of your engineering work.

You will join our product team as the new back-end software engineer.

• Ragnar leads the Product Team and manages our product workflow. You will closely work with and directly report to him.
• Gaspar, Jesus, Victor, Aaron and Kilani are SkillLab’s software engineers
• Aaron is our Lead Data Scientist
• Giulia is our Senior Product Designer
• Giulia is our UX Designer
• Azza supports the user research in her role as Customer Success and Reporting Specialist.

• You develop the robust, secure and scalable server-side infrastructure of our progressive web application
• You program our Google Cloud server infrastructure using Ruby on Rails and other technologies we will adopt over the coming years. You will also be working with SQL databases
• You collaborate with the other engineers through code reviews and by integrating with the front-end of our progressive web application
• You learn how we leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence to allow job seekers to better understand their skills and get matched to education and jobs

Requirements

• You are excited about our social mission to empower everyone to have a pathway to employment
• You have experience with a technology product
• You have experience with Google Cloud Platform, Ruby on Rails and SQL databases
• You have a learning mindset and bring the drive and curiosity to new tackle new coding challenges
• You work collaboratively in an engineering team and are empathic towards our end-users

• You speak and read Arabic
• You have some experience of with AWS and some front-end development work

• We use a salary benchmark for the Dutch high-tech sector to set your salary based on your experience. We expect that the annual gross salary for the experience we are looking for ranges from 65k-85k Euro per year.
• We strongly prefer on-site candidates who live in Amsterdam or the Netherlands. However, we are open to remote applicants who will make intermittent trips to Amsterdam from cities within the Netherlands.
• We accept applications on a rolling basis, and prefer a start-date as soon as possible.

Practicalities

• You can work flexibly from our office in Amsterdam, or remotely with intermittent trips to Amsterdam if you live in other cities in the Netherlands.
• You will get relocation support to move to Amsterdam, including visa and 30% ruling application
• You will get work equipment and commuting support if you don’t live in Amsterdam.
• You will enjoy 25 paid vacation days per year, and additional leave (e.g. parental leave).
