Job Description
The GL Accountant handles the end-to-end financial accounting and controlling of the CLEVR legal entity.
This covers all functions including GL accounting, AP / AR, invoicing, VAT, payroll, as well as financial controlling and supporting business control.
In this role you will be instrumental to help scale the CLEVR business for exponential international growth in the coming years.
Organisation
CLEVR is one of the largest international Mendix partners and originates from Mansystems, FlowFabric and BlockBrains. Mansystems was founded in 1996, FlowFabric in 2010, and BlockBrains in 2018.

Due to the ongoing growth and international expansion, CLEVR is looking for a Senior Accountant, working from the Company’s headquarter in Amersfoort, the Netherlands.

Role and responsibilities
- Daily accounting and finance tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and payroll entries.
- Responsible for timely and accurate invoicing of services and subscription revenues.
- Interacting with the professional services department on project set-up / administration, analysis of project results, etc. Preparing and executing AP payments. Expense reimbursements.
- Preparing VAT returns.
- Credit control.
- Month close procedures, and financial reporting.
- Maintaining account reconciliations and assisting in the annual audits.
- Recommending and implementing continuous improvements.
- Help automate processes and improve use of systems.
- Provide business support as appropriate to help grow and scale the Company.
- Support the integration of the recent acquisition.
- Participating in projects and addressing any ad hoc questions.
The team
You will be a key member of the CLEVR finance team, of currently c. 12 FTE, which we will further grow as the business expands, interacting daily with the business colleagues. You will be located at the Company’s headquarter, located in Amersfoort, the Netherlands.
Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Business Economics, Accounting and Control.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role as accountant, with overall GL responsibility for one or more legal entities.
- Experience at international scale-up companies, preferably in technology services, with subscription revenues from SaaS. Experience with the set-up, administration and invoicing of services projects.
- Experience with maintaining contract registers and invoicing of subscription revenues.
- Solid all-round accountant and experienced with maintaining high-quality account reconciliations.
- Knowledge of relevant accounting (IFRS) and tax rules and regulations.
- Familiar with finance processes, including purchase-to-pay, order-to-cash, payroll; able to document and help improve processes.
- Experience with implementing and maintaining internal controls.
- Systems oriented, and preferably experience with implementing and improving ERP systems and ancillary applications (for purchasing, employee reimbursements, etc.).
- Experience with FinancialForce and SalesForce a big plus.
- Experience with providing a broad spectrum of business support, incl. participating in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Analytical and meticulous.
- Good business acumen, with a mindset to service the business.
- Very organized, ambitious with a drive to always meet internal and external deadlines.
- Work independently and cohesively with others.
- Fluent in English, verbally and in writing. Other languages, like Dutch, German or Norwegian a plus.
- Willing to go the extra mile, with a smile.
